The album was released March 30th, 2004 by indie record label Willowtip records. Following it's release it was met with very favorable reviews by online publications such as MetalReview, Lambgoat, and Wrekage. Stylistically the album has a general character of the thrash and melodic influences that were present in bands such as At the Gates and late period Carcass. Any similarities to such bands at a certain point end because of the album's extreme musical nature. "A Celebration of Guilt" incorporates an emphasis on shred guitar on top of rapid melodies, hard-hitting double bass drum patterns, and a throaty vocal style. Often frontman/songwriter James Malone provides a vocal style that is reminiscent of Shagrath of the Black metal band Dimmu Borgir. The release and style is such that it is not quite as accessible as the aforementioned bands but in turn carries over a much more technical style of playing. A style that would be ever more present in the band's releases to follow. ==Track listing== # "The Face Of My Innocence" – 5:33 # "Maddening Disdain" – 3:30 # "Seven Whispers Fell Silent" – 3:46 # "Return" – 4:42 # "Worship Depraved" – 3:02 # "Carnal Ways To Recreate The Heart" – 4:52 # "Dust and Guilt" – 4:25 # "Elegant and Perverse" – 2:23 # "The Sadistic Motives Behind Bereavement Letters" – 4:25 # "Looking To Nothing" – 3:22 # "Wholly Night" – 4:20 Delux Limited Gatefold Bonus 7" Tracks # "Painted Eyes" # "Veil of Mourning Black" ==References== <references/>
