'''Alain Geiger''' (born [[5 November]] [[1960]] in [[Uvrier]]) is a retired [[Switzerland|Swiss]] football defender and current coach.
He was capped 112 times and scored 5 goals for the [[Switzerland national football team|Swiss national team]] between 1980 and 1996. He played four games at the [[1994 FIFA World Cup]], and was in the [[1996 UEFA European Championship|Euro 1996]] squad. He was captain of Swiss national team on Euro 1996 and World Cup 1994. His son, [[Bastien Geiger|Bastien]] is also a professional football player.

On 2006/07 he saved Morocco's club Safi from relegation. When he was coach of small Swiss teams Xamax Neuchatel and Aarau he has saved these clubs from relegation few times. In that time these clubs Aarau and Xamax who have very low budget have had financial difficulty.
He is known as coach who has excellent feeling for discover young talented players. When he has leaded Xamax and Aarau he has discovered young unknown African players who have become stars of Swiss Championship as for example: Senegalese international midfielder Papa Bouba Diop who is launched by Alain Geiger in Xamax and become sensation on the opening day of World Cup in S. Korea & Japan on 2002 when he scored the goal against Champion France (1-0 for Senegal), then Alain Geiger has launched Henri Camara in Xamax who has played for Grasshoppers, Sedan, Celtic Glasgow and Wigan, then Geiger has launched Cameroonian international defender Timothee Atouba in Xamax who has signed from Basel to Tottenham for big transfer fee 5,000,000 euros, now he is playing for Hamburger, also he has launched Swiss international defender Arnaud Buhler in Aarau who has played for Liverpool and Sochaux.
