It grows to around 20-30 cm, with 18-24 [[leaf|leaves]] arranged in three ranks; each leaf is 10-15 cm long and 3-6 cm broad, irregularly banded alternately dark green and whitish, and with white toothed edges. The [[flower]]s are orange, arranged in a raceme of around 20-30 cm in height. Flowers are produced in March and April with [[offsets]] being readily formed. <br clear = left>
