They live in both the western and eastern regions of [[Somaliland]] and occupy eastern regions in [[Ethiopia]]. They also occupy the south and west of [[Hargeisa]] and are regarded by many sources as the original settlers of the city. Particular in the neighbourhood of what is modern day Dumbuluq. The Arap played a vital role in the [[Somali National Movement]] (SNM) and liberation of Somaliland. The city of [[Balligubadle]] which is exclusively inhabited by Arap, was the capital of the SNM during their efforts to capture northern Somalia from the [[Siad Barre]] regime. ==Notable figures== * [[Edna Adan Ismail]], former Foreign Minister of the unrecognized Republic of Somaliland [[Category:Ethnic groups in Somalia]] [[Category:Ethnic groups in Ethiopia]] [[Category:Somali clans]] [[Category:Muslim communities]] {{Ethiopia-ethno-group-stub}} {{africa-ethno-group-stub}} {{Somalia-stub}}
