It is about 25 kilometres east of Patna, lying on the banks of the [[Ganges]] River and is the confluence of the Punpun river and Ganges. Its well connected by trains on [[Howrah]]- [[Delhi]] main line, falling under the [[Danapur]] East central railway division of the [[Indian railways]].
The Grand-Trunk road connects Fatuha to the rest of the Bihar. It had a scooter factory as well as a tractor factory. The sayings as per the locals goes that it was known as "PATWA" due to the large numbers of patwas or weavers living in here. The name gradually changed during the colonial rule as per their pronunciation.
