David Sutton is the current editor of the Fortean Times magazine. He was born in 1966 in Canterbury, Kent, and was educated at the University of East Anglia, University College London, Birkbeck College and the British Film Institute. He holds a doctorate, earned for his thesis on the origins and progress of British film comedy, and is the author of the book A Chorus of Raspberries: British Film Comedy, 1929-1939.
Although Sutton is not generally considered an author of the Cthulhu Mythos, his short story "Demoniacal" inspired a sequel written by Brian Lumley entitled "The Kiss of Bugg-Shash" which claimed that the entity in "Demoniacal" had been a Great Old One named Bugg-Shash, which Lumley further described. Sutton is therefore one of a handful of authors who has been retroactively incorporated into the list of Mythos authors without having ever set out to connect his writings to those of Lovecraft et al.
