The '''Division of New England''' is an [[Divisions of the Australian House of Representatives|Australian Electoral Division]] in the [[States and territories of Australia|state]] of [[New South Wales]]. It is located in the north-east of the state, adjoining the border with [[Queensland]]. It includes such towns as [[Armidale, New South Wales|Armidale]], [[Ashford, New South Wales|Ashford]], [[Barraba, New South Wales|Barraba]], [[Bingara, New South Wales|Bingara]], [[Glen Innes, New South Wales|Glen Innes]], [[Bundarra, New South Wales|Bundarra]], [[Guyra, New South Wales|Guyra]], [[Inverell, New South Wales|Inverell]], [[Manilla, New South Wales|Manilla]], [[Quirindi, New South Wales|Quirindi]], [[Tamworth, New South Wales|Tamworth]], [[Uralla, New South Wales|Uralla]], [[Werris Creek, New South Wales|Werris Creek]], [[Walcha, New South Wales|Walcha]] and [[Tenterfield, New South Wales|Tenterfield]]. The Division covers a largely rural area, with agriculture the main industry.
The Division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 75 divisions to be contested at the [[Australian federal election, 1901|first Federal election]]. It is named after the [[New England (Australia)|New England region]] in northern New South Wales. New England's most prominent member was [[Ian Sinclair]], a long serving [[National Party of Australia|Country/National Country/National]] Party government minister and party leader.
