The most widely accepted pronunciation of ECOSY is as a single word with short "e" and short "o". Ecosy is the youth organisation of the Party of European Socialists (PES) and is a member of the International Union of Socialist Youth (Iusy). The seat of the organisation is Brussels. Full members status is held to the European Youth Forum (YFJ) which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with both these bodies. Giacomo Filibeck (Sinistra Giovanile) is Ecosy president, Ania Skrzypek (Federacja Młodych Socjaldemokratów) is Secretary General. == History == Ecosy was founded as the European Community Organisation of Socialist Youth in November 1992 in Oegstgeest/The Hague. Before 1992 the European activities had been coordinated inside Iusy, especially in the European Leaders Meeting. The foundation of Ecosy had been controversial. In particular, the Austrians and the Swedish promoted an all-European organisation, including the non-EU members. The European Socialist Youth (Esy), founded in parallel, was only a weak organisation, a short time later renamed as European Committee, one of the Iusy continental committees. == Member organisations == * Austria: Sozialistische Jugend Österreichs (SJ) * Austria: Verband Sozialistischer StudentInnen Österreichs (VSStÖ) * Belgium: Animo * Belgium: Mouvement des Jeunes Socialistes (MJS) * Bulgaria: Българска социалистическа младежка (БСМ) / Balgarska Socialisticeska Mladezhka (BSМ) * Bulgaria: Европейска лява младежка алтернатива (ЕЛМА) / Evropejska Ljava Mladezhka Alternativa (ELMA) * Croatia: Forum mladih SDP * Cyprus: Νεολαία Σοσιαλδημοκρατών (ΝΕΟΣ) / Neolaia Sosialdimokraton (NEOS) * Czech Republic: Mladí Sociální Demokraté (MSD) * Danmark: Danmarks Socialdemokratiske Ungdom (DSU) * Estonia: Noored Sotsiaaldemokraadid (Noor-sots) * Finland: Sosialidemokraattiset Nuoret (Demarinuoret) * Finland: Sosialidemokraattiset Opiskelijat (SONK) * France: Mouvement des Jeunes Socialistes (MJS) * Germany: Jusos in der SPD * Germany: Sozialistische Jugend Deutschlands (SJD) - Die Falken * Greece: Νεολαία ΠΑΣΟΚ / Neolaia Pasok * Hungary: Fiatal Baloldal (FiB) * Ireland: Labour Youth * Italy: Sinistra Giovanile (SG) * Italy: Federazione dei Giovani Socialisti (FGS) * Latvia: Jaunatnes Sociāldemokrātiskā Savienība (JSS) * Lithuania: Lietuvos socialdemokratinio jaunimo sąjunga (LSDJS) * Luxembourg: Jeunesses Socialistes Luxembourgeoises (JSL) * Malta: Labour Youth Forum / Forum Zghazagh Laburisti (FZL) * Macedonia: Социјалдемократската младина на Македонија (СДММ) / Socijaldemokratskata mladina na Makedonija (SDMM) * Netherlands: Jonge Socialisten in de PvdA (JS) * Northern Ireland: SDLP Youth * Poland: Federacja Młodych Socjaldemokratów (FMS) * Poland: Federacja Młodych Unii Pracy (FMUP) * Portugal: Juventude Socialista (JS) * Romania: Tineretul Social Democrat (TSD) * Slovakia: Mladí sociálni demokrati (MSD) * Slovenia: Mladi forum Socialnih Demokratov (Mladi forum SD) * Spain: Juventudes Socialistas de España (JSE) * Sweden: Sveriges Socialdemokratiska Ungdomsförbund (SSU) * Sweden: Socialdemokratiska Studentförbundet (S-studenter) * United Kingdom: Labour Students * United Kingdom: Young Labour Beside this 38 full member organisations there are 16 observer members *Albania: Forumi i Rinisë Eurosocialiste të Shqipërisë (FESYA) *Albania: Rinisë Socialdemokrate *Armenia: Armenian Youth Federation Հայ Երիտասարդաց Դաշնակցութիւն (AYF) *Belorussia: Маладой Грамады (МСД-МГ) / Malada Hramada (MSD-MH) *Bosnia: Forum Mladih SDP (BiH) *Catalunya: Joventut Socialista de Catalunya (JSC) *Cyprus: Αγώνας / Agonas *Georgia: Akhalgazrduli Kavshiri Sotsialisturi Sakartvelos *Island: Samband ungra jafnaðarmanna (SUJ) *Israel: משמר נוער בתוך מפלגת העבודה / Mishmeret Tse’irah shel Mifleget haAwoda *Norway: Arbeidernes ungdomsfylking (AUF) *Poland: Młodzi Socjaliści (MS) *Russia: Российский социал-демократический союз молодёжи (РСДСМ) / Rossijskij social-demokraticheskij sojuz molodjozhi (RSDSM) *San Marino: Area Giovani Socialisti Sammarinesi (MGSS) *Serbia: Socijaldemokratska omladina Социјалдемократска омладина *Serbia: Demokratska omladina Демократска омладина *Switzerland: JungsozialistInnen Schweiz (JUSO) / Jeunesse Socialiste Suisse (JS) == Ecosy presidents == Since the founding of ECOSY in 1992 until 1997, the presidency rotated simultaneously with the EU Presidency *1992 Tracy Paul (Young Labour) *1993 Henrik Sass Larsen (Danmarks Socialdemokratiske Ungdom) *1993 Ronald Gossiaux (Mouvement des Jeunes Socialistes / Belgium) *1994 ./.
