The eucalypts are primarily [[Australasian]] in distribution. In [[1995]] new evidence, largely genetic, indicated that some prominent ''Eucalyptus'' species were actually more closely related to ''Angophora'' than to the other eucalypts; they were split off into the new genus ''Corymbia''.
