The last game of the season was contested by these two clubs vying for the league title at St. Jakob Park, Basel. Alhassane Keita scored the first goal for Zürich. In the second half Mladen Petric equalised. Basel were seconds away from the title when in the 93rd minute Florian Stahel passed the ball to Iulian Filipescu, who scored and made it 2-1 for FC Zürich. FC Zürich won the league title due to their superior goal difference. After the final whistle the field was stormed by FC Basel supporters who also attacked FC Zürich players (see 2006 Basel Hooligan Incident). FC Basel are, along with Grasshopper-Club, the biggest rivals of FC Zürich. Due to the intense rivalry, the games between Zurich and Basel are so called "High-Risk-Games". == Current squad == As of July 6th, 2008 Fs start Fs mid Fs end === Players in === *Philippe Koch (from U-21) *Admir Mehmedi (from U-21) *Luca Ladner (from U-21) *Adrian Nikci (from U-21) *Tito Tarchini (from AC Lugano, to U-21) === Players out === *Orhan Mustafi (to FC Basel) *Labinot Sheholli (to FC Biel-Bienne, loan) *Eudis (to BSC Young Boys) == Former notable players == :See also FC Zürich players. {| width=100% |- style="vertical-align: top;" | * Switzerland René Botteron * Switzerland Frédéric Chassot * Switzerland Blerim Džemaili * Switzerland Ruedi Elsener * Switzerland Joan Gamper * Switzerland Karl Grob * Switzerland Daniel Gygax * Switzerland Daniel Jeandupeux * Switzerland Gökhan Inler | | * Switzerland Jakob Kuhn * Switzerland Fritz Künzli * Switzerland Heinz Lüdi * Switzerland Xavier Margairaz * Switzerland Erni Maissen * Switzerland Marco Pascolo * Switzerland Franz Peterhans * Switzerland Gian-Pietro Zappa * Switzerland Hanspeter Zwicker | | * Romania Iulian Filipescu * Romania Adrian Ilie * Romania Mihai Tararache * Romania Marcel Răducanu * Italy Roberto Di Matteo * Italy Rosario Martinelli * Sweden Jonas Thern * Brazil Rafael Caetano de Araújo * Brazil Francisco Lima * Yugoslavia Jure Jerkovic | | * Bosnia-Herzegovina Muhamed Konjić * Bosnia-HerzegovinaYugoslavia Haris Skoro * Nigeria Ike Shorunmu * Nigeria Rashidi Yekini * South Africa Shaun Bartlett * South Africa Augustine Makalakalane * Democratic Republic of the Congo Shabani Nonda * Guinea Alhassane Keita * New Zealand Wynton Rufer * Armenia Artur Petrosyan | | |} == Managers == {| class="wikitable" style="text-align: center" |- style="font-weight:bold" | Manager | Years | Record |- | align=left| Hungary Josef "Csibi" Winkler | 1920–1922 | ?-?-?
