Fear is an album by John Cale, his first of three albums for Island Records, all of which were brought out in the space of just over a year. At the time Cale was also working as a record producer putting out albums including Squeeze's eponymous debut and, arguably the most influential of protopunk records, Horses by Patti Smith.
In addition to the role of singer on Fear Cale also played keyboards, guitars viola, violin and bass, and was joined by a number of members Roxy Music as well as other artists signed to Island. Keith Morris was responsible for the photography. "The Man Who Couldn't Afford To Orgy" was released as a single, with the non-album track "Sylvia Said" as the B-side.
