Hol was separated from Ål in 1877. The area of Dagali was transferred from Uvdal to Hol in 1944. ==The name== The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Hol (Norse Hóll), since the first church was built here. The name is identical with the word hóll m 'round (and isolated) hill'. ==Coat-of-arms== The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1991). It shows three anvils. (To represent the many forges that have been in the municipality.) ==Culture== Hol Bygdemuseum, along the road from Ål to Geilo in the small village of Hagafoss. The museum is built as an old farm, — holingsgard, with buildings of the local type. A total of 17 buildings. Two of them, Nestegardsstugu and Raunsgardsstugu, have decorative paintings on the walls. Dagali Museum, in the middle of Dagali, on the brink of Hardangervidda. A museum with 10 buildings. The oldest building dates back to 18th century, and they come from Dagali, Skurdalen, Tunhovd and Uvdal. ==What to do== Hol offers a great deal of both summer and winter activities. Check Geilo for some of them. In and around the village of Dagali there are lots of things to do. At the airport, you can engage in the following summer activities: go carts, paintballing, white water rafting, rallying, off-road rallying, rapelling and more. Dagali also offers winter activities, like paintballing, ice/snow rallying, and snow mobile racing. There is also an alpine resort in Dagali, Dagali Skisenter (also offering sled-racing, with one of Norway's longest sled-racing hills). ==Useful links== * Dagali Opplevelser - offering a great deal of activities in and around Dagali * Dagali Skisenter - The alpine resort in Dagali Buskerud Buskerud-geo-stub da:Hol de:Hol it:Hol nl:Hol (Buskerud) no:Hol nn:Hol kommune nds:Kommun Hol pl:Hol (Norwegia) pt:Hol ro:Hol sl:Hol sv:Hol kommun
