The album was a reasonable success; however, the track which ironically does not fit in the overall feeling of the album and often feels like the odd song out, "7 Seconds", became a hit. This track was a duet with [[Youssou N'Dour]], a famous [[Senegal]]ese singer who helped make the musical style ''[[mbalax]]'' popular in [[Africa]], and in a way this duet was an introduction of this style to Europe and the United States. Cherry was nominated for a [[Grammy]] in 1994 for the duet. ==Track listing== All tracks composed by Neneh Cherry & Cameron McVey; except where indicated {| class="wikitable" ! bgcolor="#ebf5ff" | # ! bgcolor="#ebf5ff" | Title ! bgcolor="#ebf5ff" | Length |- | 1. | "Woman" (Cherry, McVey, Jonathan Sharp) | 4:30 |- | 2. | "Feel It" | 5:41 |- | 3. | "Hornbeam" | 5:02 |- | 4. | "Trouble Man" ([[Marvin Gaye]]) | 3:57 |- | 5. | "Golden Ring" | 3:40 |- | 6. | "[[7 Seconds (song)|7 Seconds]]" featuring [[Youssou N'Dour]] (Cherry, McVey, Youssou N'Dour, Jonathan Sharp) | 4:59 |- | 7. | "Kootchi" | 5:06 |- | 8. | "Beastiality" | 2:49 |- | 9. | "Carry Me" | 4:22 |- | 10. | "Together Now" (Cherry, [[Tricky]]) | 3:11 |- | 11. | "Everything" | 4:58 |} ==Personnel== {| class="wikitable" |- | [[Neneh Cherry]] || [[vocals]] |- | [[Louis Pavlou]] || [[Percussion instrument|percussion]], [[drums]] |- | [[Cameron McVey]] || Producer, beats |} *[[Bernard Butler]] - guitar *Falcon - programming *Gavyn Wright - string arrangements *[[Mark Saunders]] - programming *Will Malone - string arrangements *Jonny Stephens - electric guitar, Casio *Steve Grippa Hopwood - guitar, vocals *Mickey P. - beats *Kristoffer Wallman - keyboards *Bill McDonald - bass, rhythm guitar, vocals *[[Eagle-Eye Cherry]] - piano *Mike Thompson - French horn *Jeff Bryant - French horn *Makoto Sakamoto - drums *Paul Anthony Taylor - programming *Johnny Dollar - guitar, programming, beats, string arrangements *Jonas Lindgren - violin ==Singles== {| class="wikitable" {{Single entry | Name = Kootchi | Cover = Neneh_Cherry_Kootchi_cover.jpg | Released = 1996 | Recorded = | Writer = Cherry, McVey, Hopwood and Berg | Producer = [[Cameron McVey]] and [[Dave Allen]] | Info = <nowiki></nowiki> '''Kootchi''' was the second single from the ''Man'' album. | Chart position = <nowiki>#</nowiki>38 UK }} |} ==Chart performance== {| class="wikitable" ! bgcolor="#ebf5ff" | Chart ! bgcolor="#ebf5ff" | Date ! bgcolor="#ebf5ff" | Peak position ! bgcolor="#ebf5ff" | Certification |- | France | [[September 14]], 1996 | 4 <ref>[http://lescharts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Neneh+Cherry&titel=Man&cat=a LesCharts.com] ''Man'' page <small>Accessed: October 29, 2006</small></ref> | &nbsp; |- | Austria | [[October 6]], 1996 | 5 <ref>[http://austriancharts.at/showitem.asp?key=2376&cat=a AustrianCharts.at] ''Man'' page <small>Accessed: October 28, 2006</small></ref> | &nbsp; |- | Switzerland | [[September 22]], 1996 | 5 <ref>[http://www.swisscharts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Neneh+Cherry&titel=Man&cat=a SwissCharts.com] ''Man'' page <small>Accessed: October 28, 2006</small></ref> | Gold <ref>[http://www.swisscharts.com/awards.asp?year=1996 SwissCharts.com] Certifications 1996 <small>Accessed: October 29, 2006</small></ref> |- | United Kingdom | September 1996 | 16 <ref>[http://everyhit.co.uk EveryHit.co.uk] UK Top 40 database <small>Accessed: October 28, 2006</small></ref> | &nbsp; |- | Norway | September 1996 | 19 <ref>[http://norwegiancharts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Neneh+Cherry&titel=Man&cat=a NorwegianCharts.com] ''Man'' page <small>Accessed: October 29, 2006</small></ref> | &nbsp; |- | Sweden | [[September 13]], 1996 | 22 <ref>[http://swedishcharts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Neneh+Cherry&titel=Man&cat=a SwedishCharts.com] ''Man'' page <small>Accessed: October 29, 2006</small></ref> | &nbsp; |} ==References== <div class="references-small"> <references/> </div> [[Category:1996 albums]] [[Category:Neneh Cherry albums]] [[Category:Trip hop albums]] [[Category:Albums produced by Cameron McVey]]
