The California Department of Health Services split into two departments (Public Health and Health Care Services) as of July 1st, 2007. Medi-Cal is now administered by Health Care Services.
'''Medi-Cal''' is the name of the [[Medicaid]] program in the State of [[California]]. It is jointly administered by the California State Department of Health Care Services and the [[Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services]] (CMS), operating as a Medical Assistance Program under Title XIX of the [[Social Security Act]].
Medi-Cal with the assistance from the [[Robert Wood Johnson Foundation]] created The California Partnership for Long-Term Care. The goal is to protect Californians from being forced to spend everything they have worked for on long-term care, to prevent or delay dependence on Medi-Cal, and to protect their assets from Medi-Cal [[estate recovery]]. <ref>[http://www.guidetolongtermcare.com/partnership.html The California Partnership]</ref>
