It is common in cases of [[retardation]] seen in neurofibromatosis 1, Fragile X Syndrome, Sotos Syndrome, and Simpson-Golabi-Benel Syndrome. Megalocephaly differs from [[hydrocephalus]] in that there is no increased intracranial pressure and the overgrowth is symmetrical.
