Hydrochloric acid is very dangerous when immersed in water and can create vapor clouds. This did not happen, but one man was admitted to the hospital for exposure to the acid. The leak was quickly cleaned up, and pumped out; allowing residents, businesses and schools to return to normal operation. <ref>[http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/17/us/17brfs-EVACUATIONAF_BRF.html?_r=1&n=Top/News/U.S./U.S.%20States,%20Territories%20and%20Possessions/Michigan&oref=slogin New York Times Archived Report of Chemical Release]</ref>.
