After the defeat of the [[Macriani]] usurpers, Emperor Gallienus sent his general [[Theodotus|Aurelius Theodotus]] to [[Aegyptus Province|Egypt]] to secure his hold on the province. Theodotus defeated [[Mussius Aemilianus]] who had staged a rebellion.
