All of the Libraries are open to all staff and students of NTU, regardless of which faculty they belong to. Members of the public are also welcome to use library facilities and view print resources, but only members of NTU may check out materials or access electronic resources. The 6 libraries consist of the main library, the Lee Wee Nam Library, Library 2, the Humanities and Social Sciences library (HSS) Library, the Media Resource Library, the Asian Communication Resource Centre, and Arts, Design and Media (ADM) Library. Each library has a specialised collection designed to cater to the needs of different segments of the faculty and students of the University. The libraries as a whole serve as learning centres for the entire NTU community, both to conduct personal research and engage in group discussions. The branch libraries were established with the aim of providing learning hubs for each school, as well as to house print and media collections which are of particular use and interest to the faculty and undergraduates there. == Lee Wee Nam Library == The Lee Wee Nam Library is the largest in terms of floor space, and is situated at the heart of the NTU campus. Originally named Library 1, it was renamed in 2001 in recognition of a generous donation of 10 million Singapore dollars to NTU from Lee Hiok Kee. It is primarily a research library, housing reference materials such as standards and journal collections. However it also houses the Science collection of NTU. Other highlights include access to premier business databases such as Bloomberg and Datastream. == Library 2 == Library 2 serves as a general lending library containing interdisciplinary works which are of interest or relevance across different schools and student populations, such as philosophy or geography. It is also the repository for the Business periodicals. ==Humanities and Social Sciences Library== The Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Library houses all books and journals related to the Social Sciences within NTU. The Library holds the rapidly growing collection of monographs and serials, especially with regard to the major programmes of Chinese, Economics, English, [[Psychology]] and [[Sociology]]. The majority of [[Social Science]] databases can also be accessed from the computer terminals located within the HSS Library itself. The Chinese, Japanese and Korean (CJK) collections are also housed within the HSS Library. This includes all serials such as academic journals and magazines. Highlights of this collection include many accounting, [[economics]] and management books written in the Chinese language. These include translations of journals originally written in English, and books written by Chinese universities. This collection is the largest of its kind in Singapore. == Media Resource Library == The emergence of alternative media (besides books) for information storage requires a new consolidated storage location for such materials. The Media Resource Library houses a wide range of audio-visual materials, ranging from traditional video cassette tapes to DVDs. Workstations are readily available for the viewing of multimedia, both for education and entertainment. The library serves as a central collection point for multimedia resources of all formats. ==Asian Communication Resource Centre== The Asian Communication Resource Centre (ACRC) has a history spanning 20 years. It started operating on June 2003 through the merger of the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC) Documentation Unit and the SCI Resource Centre. ACRC carries about 20 years of communication materials with a concentration of materials in development communication. It includes works pertaining to the fields of knowledge management, library science, information systems and journalism. There is also a large collection on development communication, as that was historically the main collection target of the library. The collection comprises books and journals on advertising, broadcasting, information studies, journalism, knowledge management, library science, media law and ethics, amongst others. It also maintains materials pertaining to Communication in Asia with complete set of conference proceedings and research reports produced by AMIC since 1971. ==Arts, Design, and Media Library== Located in the new school of Arts, Design, and Media (ADM), the new ADM library holds vast collection of music literature, fine arts, architecture and design, as well as a large collections of DVDs. It caters mainly to the need of ADM students. ==External links== * [http://www.ntu.edu.sg/library/home/ Official site] [[Category:Libraries in Singapore]]
