National Informatics Centre offer networking services like [[C-band]] and [[Ku-band]] ([[TDMA]], [[FTDMA]], [[SCPC]] & [[Satellite broadband]]) [[VSAT]]s, Wireless [[Metropolitan Area Network]]s (MANs) and [[Local Area Network]]s (LANs) with gateway for [[Internet]] and [[Intranet]] resource sharing.
Its the network backbone and e-Governance support to [[Central Government]], [[State Government]]s, [[Union Territories]] Administrations, [[Districts]] and other Government bodies. NIC assists in implementing Information Technology Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State Governments, in the areas of

==Department==
National Informatics Centre is under the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India. The headquarters of NIC is located at [[New Delhi]]. The State Centres of NIC are established in all the State Capitals. In order to cater to the ICT needs at grassroot level, NIC has also set up offices at District Collectorates.

The organizational set up of National Informatics Centre encompasses its [[Headquarters]] at New Delhi, State Units in all the 28 State capitals and 7 Union Territory Headquarters and District centres in almost all the Districts of India.
National Informatics Centre computer cells are located in almost all the Ministry Bhawans of the Central Government and Apex Offices including the Prime Minister’s Office, the [[Rashtrapati Bhawan]] and the Parliament House.
