Nejapa is a municipality in the San Salvador department of El Salvador. It is the city after Apopa and before Quezaltepeque. People from Nejapa Are known as Nejapenses. One of the major traditions of Nejapa is "Las Bolas De Fuego" (Balls of Fire). It is celebrated Every 31st of August. Las Bolas de Fuego has two origins, one is a historical story and the other is a religious tale. The Historical version of the story is that a volcano erupted and forced the villagers of the old Nejapa village (known as Nixapa) to flee and settle at its current location. The religious version is that "San Jeronimo" was fighting the Devil with Balls of fire. No matter what version you believe, the tradition commemorates both stories. It consists of 4 large pools, a zoo, 3 large soccer fields, a ranch, and restaurants,'at this time none kowns how much cost such public investment.'The Nejapenses don't know it because the municipal council does'nt report to its community any information related to budgets or any other financial information, so they expect the central government will take action to investigate those issues.
