'''Oldmachar Academy''' is situated to the north of the city of [[Aberdeen]] in an area of private housing. It is a six-year comprehensive, non-denominational school which opened to pupils in August 1982 (April 1983 on its present site).
The school consists of seven blocks built to form an irregular quadrangle, with playing fields to the north of the school. Plans have recently been unvieled to build an extention to the school which will include a new gym hall, swimming pool and staff canteen.
The roll is fairly erratic and the school has been roll-capped by Aberdeen City Council and stands at 1,065 at present. It has 12 classrooms of ‘temporary’ hutted accommodation, as well as ‘semi-permanent relocatable’ buildings for Biology, Chemistry, Modern Languages, Physical Education and Mathematics.
The school receives Primary 7 pupils from the 5 associated Primary schools in our Associate Schools Group. These schools are: [[Danestone]], [[Forehill]], Glashieburn, Middleton Park and from 2007 all of Greenbrae. The ASG Group works in close harmony.
There are currently 7 classes in each year group (A to G) but S1 will have 6 classes, and a large number of the cohort return to school for S5 and S6.
As of 2008 the classes A to G have been put into soap operas and are not referred to the names A, B, etc.
The current Rector is Mr James Dalgarno. The current school Doctor is Dr I.C. Dick
Notable former pupils include footballers Scott Booth, Gavin Rae and Frank Lampard. Newsreader Norman McLeod also attended Oldmachar for two years in the 1980's.
