The piri is a Korean double reed instrument, used in both the folk and classical (court) music of Korea. It is made of bamboo. Its large reed and cylindrical bore gives it a sound mellower than that of many other types of oboe.
There are four types of piri:
#Hyang piri (hangul: ko-Hang; hanja: ko-Hani)
#Se piri (hangul: ko-Hang; hanja: ko-Hani)
#Dang piri (hangul: ko-Hang; hanja: ko-Hani)
#Dae piri (ko-Hang)<!--Is this a legit instrument? I can't find hanja for this or many websites.--><!--This dictionary <http://korean.go.kr/08_new/dic/search.jsp?att1=대피리> says it is a word incorrectly used for hyangpiri. --><!--Thanks, I think it may also be the North Korean name for the "modernized" piri with added keys, like those of a Western clarinet.-->
The piri's equivalent in China is the guan (also known as bili), and its counterpart in Japan is the hichiriki.
