Revis was a post-grunge rock band from Carbondale, IL. They released one successful major label album before disbanding in 2005.
History
The group began playing in early 2000 in southern Illinois using the name Orco. They moved to Los Angeles in July 2001 and began playing venues, which eventually caught the attention of record labels. In January of 2002, the band signed with Epic Records and started working on their first album at NRG Recording in North Hollywood. Some of their demo songs would end up on their debut album. The other songs on the album were written during NRG's recording session.
It was during the five weeks of recording that the band changed its name to Revis because a European band was already using Orco. The end result of their efforts was a debut album titled Places for Breathing, which was released on May 20, 2003. The band's hometown of Carbondale announced May 19, 2003 "Revis Day" in tribute to the group.
After some touring with popular groups like Evanescence, Fuel, and Cold, Revis scored two rock radio hits, "Caught in the Rain," which was initially featured in the movie Daredevil, and "Seven." Their album debuted at #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and peaked at #115 on the Billboard Top 200. Despite the band's rising popularity, Revis announced that they were disbanding in 2005.
Since breaking up, Robert Davis and Nathaniel Cox formed a new band by the name of maryandi, later renamed The Yelling. Justin Holman is with a new project called Aujalyn.
