'''Rhenium(VII) oxide''' is the [[chemical compound]] with the formula [[Rhenium|Re<sub>2</sub>]][[Oxygen|O<sub>7</sub>]]. It is the [[anhydride]] of the hypothetical acid (HOReO<sub>3</sub>). [[Perrhenic acid]], Re<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub><nowiki>·</nowiki>2H<sub>2</sub>O, however is closely related structurally to Re<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub>. Solid Re<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub> is polymeric consisting, unusually, of the metal centers in two coordination environments - octahedral and tetrahedral. Gaseous Re<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub> is however molecular, consisting of a pair of ReO<sub>4</sub> tetrahedra that share a corner.<ref>Wells, A.F.
