The only difference in appearance is his color scheme]] The Robo-Ky are characters in the Guilty Gear fighting game series, making their first appearance in several editions of the second game, Guilty Gear X, as a secret mode for Ky, then later in the third game, Guilty Gear XX as a secret character, and then in Guilty Gear XX #Reload as a normal character, having undergone major changes. There are multiple Robo-Kys in the storyline, but they are all the same. As their name implies, they are robotic versions of Ky Kiske. Robo-Ky MkII appeared in Guilty Gear Isuka, and can use several modified moves from other characters. ==Voice acting== *Guilty Gear XX: Takeshi Kusao *Guilty Gear XX #Reload Takeshi Kusao (story mode), "Kantaro" (in-game, full name not given) *Guilty Gear Isuka: Yutaka Terada, Takumi Inoue (Mk. II) ==Gameplay== Being that there are three dramatically different versions of Robo-Ky, this section is split into three categories. ===Guilty Gear XX=== Robo-Ky uses the original Ky's sprite, but with green-tinted skin, and is significantly faster and more powerful. His moves are very similar to Ky's EX move set (though still notably unique). Since he is not playable in the arcade version, he is not allowed in tournaments. ===Guilty Gear XX #Reload=== Robo-Ky was an available character in the arcade version and his movelist was changed entirely. He sported a unique tension system, which had to be filled up in alternate ways, and several eccentric attacks, all of which used up small bits of his tension meter in order to become more powerful. He also had an overheat system, which had him heat up over time, and this heat had to be vented, or Robo-Ky would explode, interrupting whatever he was doing. ===Robo-Ky Mk. II=== Robo-Ky Mk. II was exactly like the #Reload version of Robo-Ky, except that he had a special mode in which he could go through levels of the Isuka's Boost Mode in order to obtain points, with which he could purchase moves of other characters for use in battle and increase his "parameters" (i.e. attack strength, defense power, movement speed, etc.). ==Story== ===Background=== The Robo-Kys are products of the Post-War Administration Bureau (except for Mk. II, which was created by a scientist unconnected with the PWAB), which they modeled after Ky and produced en masse to do their bidding. ===Guilty Gear XX=== While the Robo-Kys do not have a story path, they are a major element of many characters' story. They seem to be interested in taking into custody those of Japanese descent, those who use ki force, and those who the PWAB consider a threat. They appear to be capable of calling each other, analyzing the moves of their opponent (to the point where they can become immune to them), poisoning their opponent, and instant brainwashing. However, through out the game they are often used as comical relief, and shown to have personalities and low intelligence. ===Personality=== With each game, Robo-Ky's personality may change, implying that the player controls more than one. The one playable in #Reload and Guilty Gear Isuka is shown to be very eccentric and cocky, as shown by his outrageous attacks, his opening (in which he sits in a portable throne) and his victory stance (in which he plunges his sword into the ground and stands triumphantly over his opponent). He has many lines in his voice acting that sound very absurd, showing his insane, wacky side. It can be assumed that this particular Robo-Ky is not controlled by the PWAB, and may even be considered a threat because of his individuality. Robo-Ky in Guilty Gear XX Accent Core also appears to be a womanizer; his victory phrase against female characters have him constantly asking for them to marry him. All Robo-Ky have the word "ennui," carved into their belt buckle which means boredom. This may imply that the ones the player controls are ignoring the orders by the Post War Administration Bureau out of sheer boredom. ==Music References== * Robo-Ky's Aegis High is likely named for Iron Maiden's song Aces High. * His Mk II designation in Isuka might be a reference to Deep Purple, that also names its different formations with this designation, even using the same letter casing. In this case, the formation referred is the classic one: Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Ian Paice and Jon Lord. Guilty Gear fighters ja:ロボカイ ru:Robo-Ky (Guilty Gear)
