After competing in the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Grammy Showcase competition, where they advanced to the final round in New York City, the group self-released their self-titled debut album which sold over 10,000 copies in their region, prompting Island Records to take notice. Their Island debut Every Six Seconds was released in 2001, followed by Back Into Your System in 2002, which included the chart topping hits "Always", and "Rest In Pieces" co-written by James Michael and Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe. The band toured in 2003, opening for Kiss and Aerosmith. On May 29, 2005, guitarist Chris D'abaldo announced he had left the band "for obvious reasons, as the band is not a unit anymore." He then shortly retracted his statement and apologized, declaring on the band's website that "there was a bit of an issue we're working through and we're looking forward to recording a new album later this year". However, band's website currently apologizes yet again for the confusion and confirms that due to "creative differences", D'abaldo is in fact leaving the band, but that Saliva "is completely moving forward as planned and [has] our best music ahead of us". Shortly after the departure of D'abaldo, Jonathan Montoya replaced him in the lineup. D'abaldo eventually moved on to start the band Smolder. Saliva released the album Blood Stained Love Story on January 23, 2007. The single, titled "Ladies and Gentlemen" was released to radio stations and made it to #2 (according to Billboard.com) on the US Mainstream Rock charts. It has also been included as the background music for a number of Sony's commercials for the 3, and can also be heard in on their MySpace profile. The track was used as the theme song for the WWE's Wrestlemania 23 pay-per-view. The second single released off of the album was "Broken Sunday", which reached #8 on the mainstream rock chart, and is frequently on the Sirius top 20 on Octane. Saliva's tour manager Chris stated that the new single off Blood Stained Love Story would be "King of the Stereo". In an interview on Rockline Radio the band announced that they had written new material, and would heading back into the studio with Bob Marlette in the near future to begin on their fifth album which is to be called Monster. The album is expected to be released fall 2008. In an interview with WWE on the February 27, Scott said “We’re going to go in the studio probably around May and record our next record. It’s called Monster, and if you like "Ladies and Gentlemen" and "Click Click Boom", and more dynamic stuff, it’s going to be an ass-whooping of a record. It’s going to be 45 minutes of ass-whooping!” However, with the announcement of a new tour with Sevendust, and a U.S. military tour to South Korea and Japan, followed by a stint in Europe, the band are not likely to hit the studio till July. As of April 30, 2008, Octane 20 on Sirius Satellite Radio began playing a new song titled "Don't Question My Heart", featuring Brent Smith from Shinedown. The song can be found on the album WWE The Music, Vol. 8, and is the official television theme song for the ECW brand. ==Discography== ===Albums=== {| border="2" cellpadding="4" cellspacing="0" style="margin: 1em 1em 1em 0; background: #f9f9f9; border: 1px #aaa solid; border-collapse: collapse; font-size: 95%;" |- |Date of Release |Title |Label |Charting |- |August 26, 1997 |Saliva |Rocking Chair Records
Red Urban Records | - |- |March 27, 2001 |Every Six Seconds |Island Records | #56 U.S. (Gold) |- |November 12, 2002 |Back into Your System |Island Records | #19 U.S. (Gold) |- |August 17, 2004 |Survival of the Sickest |Island Records | #20 U.S. |- |January 23, 2007 |Blood Stained Love Story |Island Records | #19 U.S. |- | 2008 |Monster |Island Records |} ===Singles=== {| class="wikitable" |rowspan="2"|Year |rowspan="2"| Title |colspan="3"| Chart positions |rowspan="2"| Album |-style="vertical-align:top;line-height:1.2" !style="width:3em;font-size:75%"|U.S. !style="width:3em;font-size:75%"|U.S. Mod. !style="width:3em;font-size:75%"|U.S. Main. |- | 2001 | "Click Click Boom" | — | 25 | 15 | Every Six Seconds |- | 2002 | "Your Disease" | 116 | 7 | 3 | Every Six Seconds |- |2002 | "After Me" | — | — | 31 | Every Six Seconds |- | 2003 | "Always" | 51 | 1 Always | 2 | Back into Your System |- | 2003 | "Rest in Pieces" | 93 | 20 | 11 | Back into Your System |- | 2003 | "Raise Up" | — | — | 29 | Back into Your System |- | 2004 | "Survival of the Sickest" | — | 22 | 6 | Survival of the Sickest |- | 2004 | "Razor's Edge" | — | — | 17 | Survival of the Sickest |- |2006 |"Ladies and Gentlemen" | 101 | 25 | 2 | Blood Stained Love Story |- | 2007 | "Broken Sunday" | — | — | 8 | Blood Stained Love Story |- | 2007 | "King of the Stereo" | — | — | 24 | Blood Stained Love Story |} *IAlwaysOne week at number 1. ===B-Sides=== * "800 (New Edit)" (4:37) - From the Resident Evil Soundtrack * "After Me (Radio Edit)" (3:44) - From After Me (Single) * "Always (Acoustic)" - From the Y100 Sonic Sessions Volume 7 * "Bleed for Me" (3:59) - From the Daredevil Soundtrack/Rest in Pieces (Single) * "Click Click Boom (Radio Edit)" (4:08) - From Click Click Boom (Single) * "Don't Question My Heart (ECW)" (3:39) From WWE The Music Volume 8 * "Fake"- From Early 2-Track Demo also featuring Doperide * "King of My World" (3:57) - From WWE Anthology, Vol. 3: Now! * "I Walk Alone" (3:47) - From WWE Wreckless Intent * "Message of Love" (3:48) - From the Not Another Teen Movie Soundtrack * "Spy Hunter Theme" (4:19) - From Spy Hunter * "Spy Hunter Theme (Instrumental)" (4:19) - From Spy Hunter * "Superstar II (EA Mix)" - From Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 * "Rest in Pieces (Acoustic)" (3:34) - From Rest in Pieces (Single) * "Turn the Tables" (4:23) - From WWF Forceable Entry * "Time" (4:44)- From the Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life Soundtrack * "Your Disease (Acoustic)" (4:17) - From Your Disease (Single) ===Videos=== *"Your Disease" - From Back into Your System UK Edition/Your Disease (Single) *"Click Click Boom" - From Back into Your System UK Edition *"Always" - From Always (Single) *"Rest in Pieces" *"Spy Hunter" - From the Spy Hunter Video Game *"Survival of the Sickest" *"Ladies and Gentlemen" ==In pop culture== Saliva's music has often been licensed to production companies and sports organizations to be used in television commercials and promotion * The band has been well known to supply music for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
