'''Smart Growth America''' is a coalition of [[advocacy]] organizations that have a stake in how [[Metropolitan area|metropolitan]] expansion affects the [[environmentalism|environment]], quality of life and economic [[sustainability]]. Partners include national, state and local groups, working on behalf of the environment, [[historic preservation]], [[Social equality|social equity]], [[Conservation movement|land conservation]], neighborhood redevelopment, [[Farmland (farming)|farmland]] protection, and [[labor (economics)|labor]].
Member groups include the statewide "1000 Friends" organizations, Washington's [[Futurewise]], GrowSmartMaine, New Jersey Future, and the San Francisco Bay Area's [[Greenbelt Alliance]].
