'''The Candy Band''' is a [[punk rock]] [[musical group]] for children. Its members are four stay-at-home moms from [[Detroit, Michigan|Detroit]].
The band was formed in [[2003]] by Detroit music veteran Paula Messner, formerly of the Motor Dolls and the Vertical Pillows. The band plays hard rocking versions of [[nursery rhyme]]s, [[movie theme]]s and other children's favorites. Their first album, ''[[Candy Band]]'', was released in [[2003]] (see [[2003 in music]]). It was followed by ''[[More Candy]]'' in [[2004]] and ''[[Lollipunk]]'' in [[2005]].
The band plays local shows at schools, bars, festivals, and libraries. Candy Band has appeared on the ''[[Today (NBC program)|Today Show]]'', the ''[[CBS Morning Show]]'', and [[Washington, DC]]'s ''Pancake Mountain''. In [[2005]] they appeared on the "Kidzapalloza" stage at [[Chicago]]'s [[Lollapalooza]] festival.
