Volume 1 is CKY's debut album. The album has been released numerous times on different labels, with different artwork and titles.
Production
The original album cover featured an artistic rendition of Budd Dwyer as he famously shot himself on live television. This was a last minute cover design for the first release of the album. The manager of the label, upon seeing the cover, demanded it be changed, and that the band change their name to something less offensive. The next, more well-known, cover features a picture of CKY's lead guitarist Chad I Ginsburg, who played bass for this album, performing his trademark "Bitch Toss". The "Bitch Toss" is where he throws his guitar around his back, where it goes 360 degrees on the strap and he catches it when it comes back. This cover has been printed with different color backgrounds.
Over the different releases, the band has been known as Camp Kill Yourself and Camp before finalizing on CKY. The title of the album has been Camp Kill Yourself, Volume 1, CKY and Camp Volume 1 before finalizing on Volume 1.
The album has been released by Teil Martin International, Volcom Entertainment and, most recently, Island Records. It is now out-of-print and there are no official plans for a new printing. Initially, when the band left Island, they stated that their new label would re-release it, but they are now with Roadrunner Records and they will not be releasing it.
The song "To All of You" is played during the credits of Landspeed:CKY.
96 Quite Bitter Beings was the only confirmed single from the album.
