'''West Lancashire''' is a [[Non-metropolitan district|local government district]] of [[Lancashire]], [[England]]. Its council is based in [[Ormskirk]]. The district was formed in [[1974]] under the [[Local Government Act 1972]], as a merger of [[Ormskirk Urban District|Ormskirk]] and [[Skelmersdale and Holland]] [[urban district]]s along with part of [[West Lancashire Rural District]] and part of [[Wigan Rural District]].
Other towns in the district include [[Skelmersdale]], [[Burscough]], [[Halsall]] and [[Banks, Lancashire|Banks]].
